A £300 MILLION development involving more than 850 new homes in Selby has been approved by the district council.
The first stage of the Olympia Park scheme in Barlby Road, on land owned by animal feed firm BOCM PAULS Ltd, includes a primary school, supermarket, pub or restaurant and a new railway bridge.
It was delayed last month because of opposition to the authority’s core strategy by Tadcaster-based Samuel Smith’s Brewery, which claimed it was not consulted as a “key stakeholder”.
The development is eventually intended to involve up to 1,000 homes and could create more than 2,500 jobs.
