THE RECENT high river levels may have been a worry for many property owners who live close to the Ouse in York, but the flooding offered an unusual opportunity for this angler, captured near his van on Queen’s Staith.
A flood warning was issued yesterday for the river at Naburn Lock, south of York, where levels were expected to peak at about 3.4 metres or 11ft, two inches above normal summer levels in the early hours of today.
But weather forecasters held out hopes of a respite over the weekend.
They are predicting dry weather with sunny spells, before rain returns on Sunday night.
