FOR half a century Barbican Bookshop in Fossgate has been supplying customers with speciality Christian books, but today it will close its doors for the last time.
It is appropriate that there will be a thanksgiving service at 3pm because manager Andy Bingham says he wants this to be a day of celebration of the shop, not a day of sadness at the closure.
But it will be sad to see Barbican Bookshop go. Fossgate boasts an eclectic mix of shops and will be the worse for its absence.
