MORE than 150 York residents have signed up to a free service potentially allowing them to save up to £200 on their energy bills.
City of York Council’s link-up with energy-switching service iChoosr allows residents wanting to change suppliers to register for the scheme up to February 27, after which energy companies will be invited to offer their best prices to all members.
Those who are in the scheme will receive details of a new tariff offer from the end of February, including how much they will save, and can choose whether to accept.
Coun Dave Merrett, the council’s cabinet member for sustainability, said: “The more people who join the scheme, the better we hope the deal will be.”
More information is at york.gov.uk/switchingenergy or by phoning the council on 01904 551550, while residents can also visit the customer service centre at its West Offices HQ.
