Broken down van affecting traffic around York
Update: The van has been removed, and traffic returned to normal.
A VAN has broken down on the A1036 at the Askham Bar roundabout this morning.
Traffic has already backed up but is moving but very slowly, as the vehicle is currently stuck at the turn off to the A64.
North Yorkshire Police said an axel had come off a BT van, and there was no access to the A64 from Tadcaster Road.
Police advised motorists heavy delays are expected until the vehicle is recovered, and advised motorists to find an alternative route if possible.
