POOCHES put their best paw forward on a winter stroll through York to raise funds for a charity ensuring animals get the best care possible.
Dog-lovers took part in the five-mile walk along the banks of the River Ouse yesterday morning in aid of the RSPCA, with the trek in the January sun starting and ending at its York animal home on Landing Lane.
Volunteers also led dogs which are currently being cared for at the animal home along the route, with people who do not own pets having also been invited along for some weekend fresh air and exercise.
The charity helps to find neglected, abandoned and mistreated animals new homes, with the local branch being self-funding and needing to meet daily running costs of at least £1,400.
