POLICE are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a crash on the A19 last week.
The Ford Fiesta and orange Aprilia moped were both involved in the collision at 5.40pm on Wednesday on the A19 Shipton Road at the junction with Howard Road, opposite the Mitre pub.
The moped was travelling from Poppleton along the A1237 and the rider, a 21-year-old York man, was taken to the Leeds General Infirmary with serious injuries, where he remains in a critical but stable condition.
Traffic Sergeant Julian Pearson said: “If you witnessed the collision and have not yet contact the police, I urge you to do so straight away.
“I am particularly keen to speak to anyone who saw the orange Aprilia moped as it travelled along the A1237 as it headed from Poppleton towards the A19, and ask them to get in touch.”
Anyone who can help should contact York police on 101, select option 2 and ask for Roger Walker, or email roger.walker@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk quoting reference 12140004155.
