ATTENDING services is to be made easier for the congregation at a York church after new access plans were approved.
The scheme at the York Baptist Church on Priory Street will see a ramp, steps and a handrail installed at its front entrance, as part of a review of the facilities available at the listed building.
Agents acting for the church said members of the congregation who are disabled, or parents with pushchairs, currently had to use the site’s rear entrance because of the existing steps at the front.
The new “entrance platform” will replace these steps and a new west door will be fitted after the proposals, also including a repaving scheme, were agreed by City of York Council.
