Hockey: Acomb men II beaten by York University side
ACOMB men II were beaten 4-1 by division five north leaders York University III.
The speed and accuracy of the visitors was rewarded with two goals in the first half.
With Rob Ireland, Dave Timmins and Mark Gibbons working hard in midfield and John Armitage in defence, the students were held at bay and forays into the youngsters’ area were made by Ryan Smith, Rob Kendrew and Jonny Brown.
Umpiring decisions went against the home side, who conceded twice more, but Dylan McChesney scored an individual strike as consolation.
