A YORK MP and councillor have joined forces to campaign for the reintroduction of evening buses serving Hopgrove and the Stockton-on-the-Forest.
The last two evening Yorkshire Coastliner services were withdrawn from the village winter timetable late last year, and they now terminate at Ashley Park, Heworth, rather than Malton.
York Outer MP Julian Sturdy and Coun Paul Doughty, who represents Strensall, Earswick and Stockton-on-the-Forest, have appealed to operators Transdev to extend the route two miles further so Stockton and Hopgrove residents can use the services.
Mr Sturdy said: “Regular and reliable bus services are a real lifeline to our rural communities and Coun Doughty and I are determined to continue the fight for the restoration of these services.”
