I DO not want to object to the Yorkshire Marathon as I think it is a great day out for many runners and their supporters.
But my heart goes out to the people of Osbaldwick, who for the best part of four hours were cut off from leaving their homes.
I work as a private hire driver and we had to let people down who had booked taxis to go out as they do regularly for lunch with friends because we could not get to their homes as the road were closed.
Also we had to ask one woman who was going to the station for a train to battle her way through the crowds to cross Hull Road to get to the taxi.
So I hope the organisers take this into account when doing the route for this year’s event.
Richard Benson, York.
