AS the York Conservative Clubs’ knockout competitions reach the business end, new names are primed to adorn the roll of honour.
Bob Smith is still on track for a hat-trick of Brian Jeffrey Memorial Trophy Over-50s wins, though he faces previous winner Trevor Ventress in the quarter-finals.
Tournament sponsor Adrian Barraclough toppled defending Quickslide Scruton Cup champion Tim Lister, while 2012 winner Lee Taylor will meet three-time former winner Barry Rankin in the last eight.
Rankin, Taylor, Clive Whyte and Mich Borg are all strong contenders for the Fosters Challenge event, which has reached the last 16 stage, while there are five former winners among the last eight battling for the crown.
