A CHARITY which aims to raise awareness of travel safety for young backpackers is organising a musical fundraising event on York’s River Ouse next month.

Caroline’s Rainbow Foundation’s Twitchy Feet Club will stage the “Acoustic River Sessions” on board Yorkboat’s Captain James Cook during a three-hour cruise from 7.30 pm to 10.30pm on Sunday February 2, sailing from Lendal Bridge.

A spokesman said three acoustic acts would be playing: Andy Stones, Simon Snaize and The Peacock Suits.

“Tickets cost £10, including entry into the raffle and they are available from Visit York on Museum Street or from the bands,” he said.

“If there are any tickets left over, then they will be available to purchase on the boarding gate on the night of the event. The capacity is limited to 100 and we expect tickets to sell quickly, so buy yours now.”

He said money raised was being used to fund the continued development of a free-download travel safety app which the charity launched last October.

The charity was set up in memory of York teenager Caroline Stuttle, who was murdered while backpacking in Australia more than a decade ago.
