New Earswick IBC were left disappointed as they went out of the Yorkshire Double Rinks competition at the qualifying stage after losing 43-30 to Thornaby.
Away, Barry Johnson’s team did well coming from 9-0 down to go into the last end all square at 18-18. But the fightback was thwarted by the loss of a decisive single.
Brian Gray’s side, playing at home, held an 8-6 lead after eight ends.
But they could only win one out of the next eight to trail 20-9 and eventually perish 24-12.
York play their qualifying game against Huddersfield next Friday night.
