A COUPLE of years ago I started tracing my family tree and I have been surprised to discover that my grandfather had a brother I had never heard of.
He is in the Census, living with his parents and siblings, so it is not as if he was hidden away.
I wondered if anyone could help.
This is what I do know about him: Charles Henry Higgins was born in York in 1889. He was the eldest child of a large family. He served in the First World War and later moved to Hull. He married Mary Wood and had three children in Hull in the late 1920s and early 1930s.
During the bombing of Hull in the Second World War, he and his family returned to York where they stayed with his sister.
As far as I know they never returned to Hull.
