KATE Thomas, aged 26, with her new look after shaving off her long blonde hair to raise money for St Catherine’s Hospice in Scarborough.
Kate made the sacrifice in memory of her father, who was in the hospice before he died in 2009.
Her sister, a hairdresser at Paul’s Hairdressers in the resort, shaved Kate’s head while friends, family and representatives from the hospice cheered her on and took photos. So far, Kate has raised £1,500.
Penny Campbell, from the hospice said: “It was a privilege to be present when Sophie shaved Kate’s hair. When I met Kate for the first time I was amazed by how matter-of-fact she was about having all her hair cut off and how she hoped that by doing something so dramatic, in memory of her dad, people would be generous and sponsor her in aid of Saint Catherine’s.”
