MANY years ago, the council in York was made up of local retailers and businessmen. It was not politically interested.
The only interest was for the benefit of the city, its residents and businesses. Mainly the councillors were from York.
Today’s council seems to consist of politically-minded groups who continue to play a game of oneupmanship.
Retailers seem to have little say in the decisions the council makes.
How many councillors were born and educated here? Why don’t we have a council drawn from local businesses that see the seasonal change in their revenue and can offer important opinions on York?
I’m sure it would work better and it wouldn’t be politically orientated.
