THE University of York has named the eight people being awarded honorary degrees this year.
Philanthropist Sigrid Rausing, post-conflict specialist Raw McGrath, Koji Omi, the chairman of the Science & Technology In Society forum, composer Philip Moore, biographer Claire Tomalin, academic publisher Dr Richard Barber, physicist Sir Christopher Llewellyn Smith, and the chair of Scope, Dr Alice Maynard, are to receive honorary degrees at the university’s graduation ceremonies next Friday and Saturday.
The university confers honorary degrees on individuals who have made a significant contribution to society. Recipients often have existing links with the university and are nominated by its members.
