FOUR fly-tippers have been taken to court after being caught dumping rubbish by the side of Selby roads.
Selby District Council prosecuted the offenders as part of a crackdown on fly-tipping.
John Marshall, 25, of The Gables in Holmes Lane, Selby, was convicted in his absence of failing to ensure household waste was correctly disposed of after bags of rubbish were found in Denison Road.
He was fined £350 and ordered to pay £500 costs and a £35 victim surcharge.
The same punishment was handed to Danielle Clayton, 24, of Woodville Terrace, Selby, who was found guilty in her absence of leaving waste near garages in Woodville Terrace.
Christopher Bowes, 25, and Kayleigh Maxwell, 24, both of Clark Terrace in Leeds, both admitted leaving items including a paddling pool, a child’s slide, a bike and toys in Laith Staid Lane, in Sherburn-in-Elmet. They each received a six-month conditional discharge and were ordered to pay costs of £295 and a £15 victim surcharge.
