A MAN was seriously injured in a stabbing near Selby.

Police were called at about 12.30pm yesterday after a man reported being assaulted by three other men on a rural road near Kellington, south-west of the town.

Emergency services attended the scene, and the man was taken to Leeds General Infirmary for treatment to stab wounds in his chest and abdomen. His condition was described as serious.

A police spokeswoman said no arrests had been made, but urged people to look out for three males believed to be in the Eggborough area.

One was wearing all grey, one wore a black jacket, and the third wore a tweed jacket. The spokeswoman said they may be accompanied by a small child wearing a red top.
