UNCERTAINTY has been expressed in the Letters page about the status of Stonebow House. Perhaps I can help.
In the 1990s, I was employed by English Heritage to revise and rewrite the Statutory List of Buildings of Architectural and Historical Interest for York.
Stonebow House is not a listed building. Nor was it designed by Basil Spence. It was the work of the firm of Wells, Hickman and Partners, in 1964.
If it had been designed by Basil Spence, it could well be a listed building by now.
