A CHARITY which works with hospices and special schools around the county has been given a £300 donation.
Jessie’s Fund in York, which helps children with life-limiting illnesses through the use of music, was created 18 years ago after nine-year-old Jessica George was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour.
The funds have come from the Galaxy Hot Chocolate fund, which aims to help small, local community groups and charities across the UK and Ireland by donating cash awards to support people and projects.
Lesley Schatzberger, director of the charity, said: “Many of the children we help will have short lives, so it is vital that the time that they have is as happy as it can be, and music can play a big part in that.
“This donation from the Galaxy Hot Chocolate Fund will enable us to pay for a whole block of sessions for a child whose family would not otherwise be able to afford to contribute towards any treatment.”
Local groups can apply for up to £300 from the fund until Sunday, February 23, at galaxyhotchocolate.com
