A £34 million wish list of schemes for a North Yorkshire district includes a £1 million park which is not wanted, councillors have been told.
The list has been drawn up as part of Hambleton District Council’s consultation on charges to be made for development under the new Community Infrastructure Levy, a Government system where developers pay local councils for construction work as part of moves to provide investment in communities.
It includes a £1.079 million town park for Northallerton.
But John Prest, one of the town’s councillors, said: “I don’t know where this has come from – it is not the principle of it, it is who would manage it, and it is going to cost a lot on an ongoing basis and nobody knows what that would be.”
