A MAN is in critical condition in hospital following a crash in York.
The 44-year-old man was injured while gaining access to the sliding side door to the storage section of his silver Ford Transit van parked in Naburn Lane at about 2.55pm yesterday.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said the man, from Leeds, was hit by a red Vauxhall Insignia while accessing his vehicle, and was initially taken to York Hospital with suspected leg injuries.
The spokesman said he was later taken to Hull Royal Infirmary with a serious head injury, and his condition is described as “critical but stable”.
The road was not closed, but police were on the scene for several hours while the vehicles were recovered.
Anyone who saw the crash, or saw either vehicle prior to the incident, has been urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 and ask for Traffic Constable Dave Seavers or the Major Collision Investigation Team.
