FIVE Lions narrowed the gap on top team City Supporters in the York John Smith’s Ladies Darts League division one as they came away from close rivals Tramways with a resounding 7-2 win.
Dawn Exton led the way for Lions gaming in 23 darts, including two tons. Colleagues Michelle and Muriel Britton, and Anne Bass also roared as they took a 4-2 advantage into the pairs.
Sue Lowery (125,100) and Carole Layne (24) stopped the rot but it was to be the home team’s only successes as an 80 finish from Bass and 70 from Michelle Britton spurred Lions on.
Clair Cooper hit a maximum and mother Carole Perrett two 100s as Marcia ‘A’ coasted to an easy win against visiting Acomb, whose captain Sarah Rankeillor prevented the full house.
City struggled with their finishing at Severus.
Sue Clark, Jackie Simpson, Carol Robson took the home side into the pairs on level terms. Natalie Farmeary and Jayne Janes edged City in front before Robson and Simpson set up the decider which saw Supporters’ captain Tracey Farmeary and daughter Lauren snatch victory.
Slipper had victory secured within the singles after Karen Smith, Doreen Johnstone, Elaine Metcalfe, Sue Tate and Anita Adams sealed match points. Caroline Whittaker saved Burnholme’s blushes.
Marcia ‘B’ also had victory sewn up before the pairs with Barbara Russell clinching the win at Edinburgh, whose Julie Stables stopped the rot.
Wendy Shortle, Flossy Crampton and Sandra Bruce gave Magnet a 3-0 advantage at Bootham Club before Jackie Clemit narrowed the gap. Tracey Watkinson restored the lead, then Jane Barnes pulled one back for the club side and daughter Kate joined Dot Trousdale to make the match interesting.
However, Magnet won the remaining games to go home with a 6-3 win.
Dick Turpin recovered from a 2-0 deficit after Wendy Storr, Dot Sellars had given visitors and division two front runners Severus ‘B’ an early lead.
Sue Atkin, Pam Bielby, Tracey Wyatt and Jo MacPherson replied before the latter combined with Becky Marmion to seal a well fought 5-4 result.
Ox’s final pairing of Alison Walker and Abbey Scott snatched victory to nudge aside visitors Shoulder, while Sharon Lyons and Kath Powell edged Woolpack in front against visitors Jubilee whose Tracey Yeomans and Julie Oliver set up a decider which saw Jubilee captain combine with Brenda Dawe to secure a 5-4 win.
Danielle Ford, Freda Harman, Angels Fletcher set Sun up before home side Leeman replied through Charlotte Witts.
Janet Nelson closed the gap, but Dorothy Barker and Harman and Ford sealed the triumph.
