ONE of England’s biggest arenas came alive with the sound of music when 40 children from York raised their voices in song.
The choristers from Years 5 and 6 at Elvington Primary School were among 5,000 youngsters from Yorkshire taking part in this years’ Young Voices event at Sheffield’s Motorpoint Arena.
Their performance marked the start of a week of concerts at the arena featuring different young singers each day.
The music includes pop medleys, English folk songs, an African version of the Lord’s Prayer, other religiously inspired music and a weather medley.
The Sheffield concerts, together with 12 more in Birmingham, Manchester and London, form this year’s Young Voices concert series, which is aimed at encouraging children to take part in live music.
