I HAVE seen comment over the past couple of evenings about the last bus departing York and serving several eastbound villages at 9.21pm. I can only dream of such a time!
I live in the village of Rillington, five miles east of Malton. The last bus departing Malton travelling eastbound is as follows: Monday to Friday, 6.53pm; Saturday, 6.42pm; Sunday and public holidays, 8.02pm.
The above times are totally unfit for purpose, given as a nation we are encouraged to use public transport for such as environmental issues; and given that we are facing possible speed reductions on our motorways due to European directives on vehicle emissions.
Why in such countries as Germany do they have no speed limits whatsoever on certain motorways/autobahns?
We should be increasing bus journeys, not reducing/withdrawing, perhaps this is the reason we have three cars on our drive for use by family members all attending work/full time education.
