THE funeral of a well-known North Yorkshire businessman will include a procession of heavy haulage wagons driven by former employees through the town this afternoon.
Peter Sunter died on Wednesday, January 15, and his funeral will be held today at Northallerton’s All Saints’ Church, at 2pm.
Mr Sunter was a well-known figure in the town as part of the Sunter Brothers of Northallerton haulage firm, which specialised in carrying large and unusual loads.
The Town Council has already held a minute’s silence in Mr Sunter’s honour at a meeting earlier this week, and North Yorkshire County Councillor Tony Hall paid tribute to him as “a unique Northallerton friend” who will be sadly missed.
The lorries, the hearse and family cars, and will drive down Thirsk Road and the High Street at about 1.30pm, and on to All Saints’ Church for Mr Sunter’s funeral at 2pm.
