THIS snapshot of a couple dancing behind a busker in York city-centre has won a local photography competition.
Ray Price, who took the black and white image in Davygate, won £250 and a pair of first class tickets from rail operator East Coast.
The competition was organised by local web-based magazine YorkMix and judged by a panel led by Allan Harris, president of York Photographic Society.
He said: “This picture captures a moment beautifully. We particularly liked the fact that the busker appeared unaware of the photograph being taken. The embracing couple in the background are lost in their own world, seemingly about to step into an impromptu dance.”
Second prize went to Daniel Cooper for a shot of Peter Lane, while third place went to Chris Mackins, for his picture of the illuminated River Foss footbridge, off Navigation Road.
