Update: Ricky Beech has since been caught by police.
AN ARMED robber could be on the run in North Yorkshire after escaping from prison in Yarm.
Ricky Darren Beech, 29, absonded from Kirklevington Grange Prison in Yarm between 4.45pm and 7.50pm yesterday.
He was jailed in 2008 for an armed robbery at a petrol station in Hull in 2006, when he assaulted a shop assistant, and was serving an indeterminate sentence.
Beech is white, with dark hair and a beard, five foot nine inches tall, with brown eyes and two scars above his left eye. He has an England tattoo on the left hand side of his chest.
Cleveland Police say they are working with prison authorities and other police forces to trace him, and although they do not think he poses a risk to the public have advised anyone who sees him not to approach him but to call 999 immediately.
