YORK Schoolboy Under-11s ran out 7-2 winners against East Riding with Will Jarvis (4), Josh Hall (2) and Liam White the marksmen.
White gave York the lead following some great running down the left wing by Declan Simpson to force the first corner of the game, which was only cleared as far as White who, with a stunning 20-yard drive, found the bottom left corner to open his account for the team.
East Riding equalised with a great half-volley to make it 1-1 after 16 minutes and the rest of the first period saw man-of-the-match Jimmy Gore and Elliot Oliver work hard in midfield to stop the flow of opposition attacks, while the defence of Liam White, Simeon Hopkinson and Luke Jones meant Nathan Storr only had to face one further shot on goal before the break.
East Riding forged ahead, though, at the start of the second period when Storr was beaten by a free-kick.
That stirred York into action and, after another half-cleared corner, delivered by Hall, Oliver found Jarvis whose low side-footed effort levelled the scores again.
Wingers Hall and Alex Kemp then started to open up the East Riding defence with some great runs down the flanks and the former put in a looping cross for Jarvis who, with a volley on the turn, found the roof of the net to make it 3-2.
Oliver went on to provide Jarvis with a chance to coolly complete his hat-trick and, after Jones cleared an East Riding effort off the line, Hall picked up a loose ball and, following some intricate control, fired in a fifth goal.
More great skill down the left from Kemp led to two efforts that forced the East Riding ’keeper into a fine double save before York started the third period on the offensive and were rewarded with another goal from Hall following a great passing move.
York’s back three of Tom Eaton, Alfie Evans and Simpson stayed solid until the final whistle and, with minutes to go, Jarvis was brought down in the penalty area after a driving run.
He calmly stepped up and converted the penalty, placing it low to the right and sending the ’keeper the wrong way, to claim his fourth goal of the game.
