ROBERT Wilkinson Primary School will represent York City in the Community in the regional finals of the npower Six-a-side Football League Kids Cup.
The York school beat Richmond Church of England School 2-1 in the North Yorkshire area final of the competition at York Sports Village.
Kai Brownlee and Connor Teale gave Robert Wilkinson a two-goal lead and, while Ben Dale reduced the deficit for Richmond, there was no further score in a closely-fought contest.
Earlier, both schools had topped their respective groups in a tournament that included the nine winners of area qualifying competitions.
Robert Wilkinson beat Gladstone Road (5-2) and Waterstreet (8-1), while sharing the spoils with Hambleton (2-2), and Richmond overcame Hutton Rudby (2-0), Stakesby (3-1) and Brackenfield (4-3) on top of a 1-1 draw against Westfield.
The competition was organised by York City in the Community in partnership with the North Yorkshire Sport School Games programme.
Robert Wilkinson will now prepare for the regional final to be held at Chesterfield Football Club during the week starting March 10.
The national final will then be staged at Wembley Stadium before the Sky Bet League Two play-off final in May.
