THE new president of the Fraternite of Olde Selebians was installed at the group’s annual general meeting.
Ken Smith, who lives in Barlow, will hold the office for one year with his vice-president, Peter Palmer.
A member of the Fraternite for 18 years, Mr Smith was its secretary for 16 years before giving up office to concentrate on his presidency, when he will continue the tradition of the Fraternite in upholding the interests of Selby.
History will be made next year when Mr Palmer takes up his office as president. He will become the first-ever member to hold the office for a second term and also the first member ever to follow his father, Rowland, who held the office as president in 1971.
