PLANS for a giant photo mosaic made up of the faces of York residents, students and tourists, have been drawn up by University of York students as part of a Tour de France cultural festival.
The Faces of York project will use photographs to construct an image of last year’s Tour winner Chris Froome racing through the French countryside, against a Union Jack backdrop.
The image will be made up of hundreds of passport-style photographs gathered over the next few months in special booths set up by the students in the city centre and on campus.
The students plan to display the final image in the city centre during the Yorkshire Cultural Festival in the run up to Le Grand Départ from York on July 6.
