ABOUT 350 passengers recently travelled on The North Yorkshire Moors Railway to raise £3,000 for York Against Cancer.
The excursion to Whitby from Pickering raised a record amount for the charity which owns and manages a respite care home in Whitby for cancer patients and their families.
Tesco in Clifton Moor donated snacks, chocolate bars and drinks for all the passengers.
Ralph Magee, director of York Against Cancer, said: ‘’We were very appreciative of Tesco’s generous support for our event and obviously the passengers were grateful for their ‘free samples’.”
Tesco Clifton Moor store manager Gary Simpson said, “We were delighted to be able to support York Against Cancer for the second year.”
