A NEW computer system is being installed to allow community minibuses in a North Yorkshire district to get around easier.
A grant from Hambleton District Council’s Supporting Area Action Fund has allowed the Thirsk and District Community Minibus Association to replace its 11-year-old system with a custom-built network which will simplify the way it manages accounts and checks routes.
Council leader Mark Robson, who is also one of the association’s trustees, said: “We are used by sports clubs for transport to matches and also a range of social clubs, especially by disabled and older people for outings and shopping, and we carry an average of 4,000 people a year. “As we are a charity, we don't often have spare funds for items like this, so to get a grant is a real boost for us.”
