YORK hosted a Fairtrade event to celebrate the work of school pupils and teachers.
The Lord Mayor of York, Coun Julie Gunnell, and members of the civic party presented the honours at the Fairtrade in Yorkshire School Awards 2014. The event was held at York St John University as the city marks ten years as a Fairtrade city.
Coun Linsay Cunningham-Cross, the Council’s Fairtrade Champion, said: “It’s great to be hosting the Fairtrade in Yorkshire School Awards in York again this year.
“We are proud to be celebrating ten years as Fairtrade city – and delighted that the passion for fair wages for all continues to grow. Through the work being done in schools across Yorkshire, we can help inspire future generations to join in with helping to build a world where everyone can get a fair wage for a fair day’s work.”
