THE night sky became the focus of children at a York primary school.
Children at Hempland Primary School held a Star Party, where they examined the sky through telescopes and binoculars provided by York Astronomical Society (YAS).
With YAS chairman Martin Dawson on hand to give guidance, pupils were able to examine the mountains, seas and craters of the moon as well as planet Jupiter and innumerable stars.
The event was organised by staff member Sam Richardson, who is also a member of YAS.
A similar event is held every month on Knavesmire.
