A YOUNG chef has been crowned the best in York following a tough competition.
Edward Cass, from Archbishop Holgate CE School, has been named the York Rotary Young Chef of the Year.
He won the title after battling it out alongside 27 youngsters from three York schools, and will now go forward to the Yorkshire Finals at Betty’s Cookery School Harrogate next Monday.
Nigel Naish, the president of York Rotary Club, said: “York Rotarians are delighted at the positive reaction we got from teachers at each school and their enthusiasm encouraged a wide range of youngsters to have a go. The results were astonishing and the professionals we recruited to judge the competitions were extremely impressed with the skills, commitment and focus of the competitors.”
The challenge saw finalists given two hours to make a healthy two-course meal for under £10.
