RONNIE Bradley is about to celebrate his golden wedding anniversary, but he was fortunate to see his first.
As soldier Mr Bradley was recalled from his honeymoon to Aden, where Britain was combating Arab insurgency. While there he more than once offered himself as bait to lure terrorists and remarkably each operation was successful.
For his bravery Mr Bradley was awarded the Military Medal. Now he has sold it to the York Army Museum so that he can take his wife on a golden wedding holiday of a lifetime.
He says the medal brings back many sad and poignant memories, and we think it is great that he can release its value while allowing others to see it on display.
This has to be a win-win situation for everyone. We hope Mr and Mrs Bradley will have a fantastic trip.
