New Earswick IBC were involved in a Yorkshire League division one nail-biter before topping Hornsea 79-78 to pick up 11 valuable points.
Brian Gray’s team were the only winning rink. They only lost two ends between the seventh and 18th ends as they came from 6-5 down to lead 22-8 before confirming a solid 26-14 victory.
Ralph Tiplady’s team opened decently to lead 7-0 after four ends but the home side knocked the stuffing out of them with a crucial seven on the tenth end to go in front and they were never headed in a 24-15 success.
At home, Barry Johnson’s side picked up a single then a three on their last end to secure a 19-19 draw.
The team led by Paul Dawson needed a four on their last end to get a draw, but only picked up a two and went down 21-19.
