EVERY concerned person will welcome David Smith’s well-meaning response to the Clegg mental health proposals (Letters, January 21).

Yet as my granny always said: “handsome is as handsome does”.

Unfortunately, politicians and health professionals are in the habit of saying, but not doing.

All too often the rest of us are left to turn up at the funeral.
