A MAN suffered a broken leg in an unprovoked attack in York in the early hours of this morning today.
North Yorkshire Police said the 22-year-old man was attacked by two or three men at the junction of Howe Hill Close and Sowerby Road, at about 1.25am.
A police spokesman said the man was attacked with a metal pole and a hammer, and was left with bruising all over his body, and an open wound where his leg was broken.
Detective Constable John Phillips of York CID said: “This was an unprovoked and violent assault which has left the victim with serious injuries.
"It’s vital that we find out who is responsible and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information which could help the investigation to call the police without delay.
