IT WAS business as usual at the top of division one in the York & District Table Tennis League.

Leaders Coneysthorpe ‘A’ blitzed York RI ‘B’ 10-0 and then went on to beat Bootham ‘A’ 8-2. Martin Lowe was unbeaten in both matches.

Jon Wooldridge played well for Bootham, contributing both of their wins, including the prized scalp of Ashley Hodgson. He backed that up with a treble in an important 7-3 win over bottom side York RI ‘C’.

Second-placed York RI ‘A’ kept their title hopes alive with a 9-1 victory over Holgate ‘A’, Mick Wilcockson and Paul Robertson unbeaten.

Coneysthorpe ‘B’ whitewashed University ‘A’ 10-0.

In division two, John Temple and Dave Quinlan each picked up two wins and teamed up to win the deciding doubles for Bootham ‘D’ in a surprise 6-4 defeat of York RI ‘E’.

Pat Swindell claimed three superb wins as he helped his York RI ‘D’ to a 5-5 draw with Bootham ‘B’, while Ian Williams was the key man for Shepherds ‘B’ in a tight 6-4 defeat of their ‘C’ team.

Mike Robinson was the star for Tramways as they picked up a valuable win over Shepherds ‘D’ and youngster Nathan Taylor was on top form as second-placed Shepherds ‘A’ beat Bootham ‘C’ 7-3.

Holgate ‘B’ remain top, showing no mercy to their ‘C’ team in a 10-0 whitewash.

University ‘B’ are back on top of division three following a 7-3 win over BT ‘B’, with Bootham ‘E’ moving into second place after a 7-3 defeat of Holgate ‘D’.

York RI ‘F’ remain in promotion contention with a good 8-2 victory over BT ‘A’. Lewis McCarthy and David Dunn were too good for BT.

Matt Ayres and Rich Collyer inspired Bootham ‘F’ to a 7-3 defeat of York RI ‘G’.

Burnholme ‘B’ remain on top of division four after three wins from Terry Ruane in an 8-2 thrashing of Wigginton & Haxby 8-2.

In second place, unbeaten York RI ‘H’ had Paul Greenwood to thank for salvaging a draw against University ‘C’.

Tom Lines kept his Holgate ‘E’ in the promotion hunt with three wins in a 7-3 defeat of Bootham ‘G’ and veteran Mike Belton was too good for York RI ‘I’ in a comfortable 8-2 win for his Crescent ‘F’ side.
