Youngsters from across York took part in an art contest for preschool children.
The reception class from The Mount Junior School won the top prize in the competition which was judged by Emma Stothard, a professional sculptor from Whitby who specialises in willow-weaving, The Mount’s head of art studies, Sian Gabraitis and Haydn Lewis, deputy news editor and education reporter with The Press.
Children from nurseries in Sheriff Hutton, Leeman Road, York, and South Bank, York, took part with the young artists’ work going on display at The Mount.
The entries were inspired by the story of The Stickman by popular children’s author Julia Donaldson and the judges selected the winner and two runners up – Aimee Crosby, aged four, from Leeman Road Playgroup and Amelia Vipas, aged two, also from Leeman Road.
The winning schools received a hamper of art supplies.
