A TEENAGER from York has been named the President’s Cadet Of The Year by St John Ambulance.
Euan Inglis, 13, of Acaster Malbis, is a volunteer cadet at the first aid charity’s York Combined unit.
Euan, who was also named Deputy Cadet Of The Year in 2013, said: “It feels very exciting to be President’s Cadet Of The Year for my region.
“I’m delighted to have been given this opportunity and I feel privileged to be able to represent cadets in the district.”
During the regional competition, Euan, who is a pupil at Tadcaster Grammar School, was required to take part in a team building exercise and a first aid assessment, give a presentation on an interest or hobby and be interviewed by assessors.
Euan was presented with a shield and was also given a special lanyard to wear on his uniform to mark his achievement.
Barbara Taylor, St John Ambulance’s district youth manager said: “The Cadet of the Year competition is one of those events that makes you so proud to be a youth leader.”
