MORE than £7.1 million of National Lottery funding went to York last year, according to new figures.
The city saw 58 grants awarded for local arts, sport, heritage and community groups, including £8,527 to York and District Citizens Advice Bureau to create a central information hub and shared advice system, while York Mind was granted £8,472 to run learning and job opportunities for people with severe mental health conditions.
Ralph Butterfield Primary School received £8,143 for after-school activities based around IT, art and music applications for disadvantaged children, and these projects and others will have the chance to gain national recognition as the National Lottery Awards 2014 open for entries, which can be made and viewed at nationallotteryawards.org.uk or by phoning 020 7293 3599.
