A CONSTRUCTION company has helped out with the costs of a York school trip to Poland.
The travel fund for Millthorpe School’s annual visit to the Auschwitz-Birkenau German Nazi concentration camp was given a £500 boost by Hull building firm Hobson & Porter.
Ivan Noble, head of religious education at the school, said: “It has become much more difficult in recent years to be able to run the trip at a price that students can afford. We are extremely grateful to Hobson & Porter for their kind sponsorship.”
Thirty-six children made the journey to Poland.
Jason Papprill, chief exeutive at Hobson & Porter, said “We were delighted to be involved in Millthorpe’s visit to Poland.
“It is important the people of every age should have the opportunity of visiting Auschwitz and see for themselves the sheer scale of the place, especially as time moves on from the terrible events of the 1940s.”
