STAMFORD Bridge Under-14s booked their place in the second round of the City of York Girls’ Football League Cup with a last-minute winner in a 2-1 home win over Cayton Corinthians.
The deadlock was broken in the 26th minute when Ellie Fitzmaurice intercepted a Cayton goal kick and passed to captain Emma Nelson, whose shot rocketed in.
Cayton levelled in the 37th minute and the visiting ’keeper then saved a Stamford Bridge penalty.
With the game heading for extra time, midfielder Alex Harvey pounced to force the ball home for the winner.
Player of the match was Jess Alston.
