ELVINGTON Harriers under-11s recorded their biggest-ever victory following an 8-1 triumph at Gilberdyke.
Jimmy Gore (4), Archie Sherwood (2), Lewis Walton and Luke Chadwick were the Harriers’ marksmen in the Selby & District Junior League encounter.
The visitors had earlier fallen behind when goalkeeper Charlie Tunstall appeared to have the ball taken out of his two-handed grip, but Jimmy Gore soon levelled with a deflected strike.
With his cousin, Charlie Gore, also leading by example during a tireless captain’s performance from the first whistle, the pair dominated the midfield with support from tricky wingers Walton and Charlie Taylor.
Further goals from Sherwood and Jimmy Gore ensured that Elvington took a 3-1 advantage into the break with the rearguard of Josh Matthews, Kieran Dowzer and Alex Lee keeping things tight at the other end as Tunstall was a spectator for most of the game.
Great interplay from the Gores saw Walton extend the lead.
Orrin Mayall also put in some tough tackles, Taylor was causing all kinds of trouble on the flank and Charlie Gore went close with some long-range attempts before his cousin added two more goals – the first a superb solo effort.
Fine finishes by Chadwick and Sherwood completed the scoring, while Dowzer and Jimmy Gore were joint man-of-the-match winners.
